For our one-year ryan gave me dying roses and took us to the secret garden teahouse. Port jeff is just a wonderful place to live in the summer, I love it here ; jam bands in the park, the coast around every corner, icecream and beach and vacation town. Everyday feels like a vacation, I think that is why I am just enjoying it - living on the east coast you get hard, three foot snowstorms and they make a hot summer really.. pleasant .. which is new for me, gothic thing that I am. Today we got up late, packed a lunch and went down to the beach to get caught in a thunderstorm. Ryan and I are on the level with one another and enjoy the same things, so we just sat in the storm and watched the stormsystem overhead, layed in the pebbles after it passed and watched girls swim and tease one another. Walked home with our baskets and collected roses - stopped to get lemonades and the attendants kept smiling about our flower baskets and bare feet and sometimes we stop and realize aloud that we are living these lives that are something some people can only dream and write about, present day hippies on our feet and in the wild, and it's such a blessing. Came home, ate a light dinner and had caramel coffee and fell asleep watching the disney robin hood. Woke up at sundown and lit candles and incense and opened the glass doors. Maybe comfortable gets boring, but right now it is just right and we have some adventures planned for the coming weeks. Until then I am just fine.

(from the beach day, roses, a piece of glassware that was on the shore, i kept it for the rose pattern. A possum jaw? I had it in 20 volume peroxide, then changed it over to antiseptic volume, for whitening.

  2. beautiful photos as always, and I love the spice rack renewal. I read about the jaw and the way you cleaned it, could you give a bit more instructions about the procedure? I've recently found a skull and I don't know how to treat it, and I afraid a too strong bleach solution will dissolve it!

  3. Never use bleach! ever! it will literally just eat the bone. Always use hydrogen peroxide - the best is to use a 30-40 volume peroxide, you can find them in hair supply shops, just tell them youre looking for 40 volume peroxide. After its whiened and alot of the fat oils have been eaten away which might take days to a week depending on your skull, you can move it down to a gentle antiseptic hydrogen peroxide like you buy in grocery stores, its usually 7%volume.
